Every year, the American Red Cross recognizes individuals who have made a difference in their communities or the lives of others by either acts of courage or selflessly giving back.  Our very own Nichole Ramsdell and Ian Ramsdell have been nominated by American Red Cross’ Adam Burritt for the 2019 American Red Cross Every Day Hero’s award.  Adam who is a Program Director for the American Red Cross and who is also a US Army Veteran, noticed the New England Warriors continuous and selfless efforts for Veterans in Manchester, New Hampshire and the surrounding New England areas.  In April, The New England Warriors have been nominated to receive the 2019 American Red Cross Every Day Hero’s award in the Military Hero category.  Pictures from the awards ceremony will be posted soon after the event.

The Everyday Heroes Awards – New Hampshire is a fundraising event that brings together hundreds of community leaders to celebrate local individuals whose extraordinary acts of courage and compassion make them a hero.  The awards were presented by the American Red Cross of New Hampshire and Vermont, our title sponsor Co-Operative Insurance Companies, and the generous support of donors like you.  This is the largest fundraising event of the year in Vermont benefiting the American Red Cross.  Funds raised at the event help support our local Red Cross programs to build a better prepared and more resilient community.

For additional information to attend the event, please go to the American Red Cross event website address – https://www.redcross.org/local/new-hampshire-vermont/about-us/news-and-events/events/everyday-heroes-nh.html

Every week, regardless if it is one Veteran who shows up or 15, New England Warriors are always at the hockey rink supporting and encouraging our very own.  The New England Warriors Ice Hockey program provides free equipment and jerseys then introduces participants to sled hockey. Most of the Veterans who come out every week, especially the older ones, look forward to participating in practice.  We are providing them an avenue to be a part of their community and to be active and socialize with other Veterans.  They really enjoy that team comradery that they once had while on Active Duty.  We provide a place that they can go, shoot the breeze with someone, have a cup of coffee and not be alone.  Even if it is a week where they don’t feel like getting on the ice.  Our Veterans know as soon as they walk through the doors, they are in an environment where no questions are asked, without pressure, or judgement.

New England Warriors Team Manager, Nichole Ramsdell comments “Honestly, I wish myself and Ian could take all the credit for this, however, it’s great to be recognized by someone for what we’re doing but we would not be able to do this without the support of so many people.  Between our parent chapter, our team and staff, Manchester Parks & Recreation and amazing recreation therapists from Manchester Veterans Affairs Medical Center and White River Junction VA Medical Center.  It’s been amazing feeling to see people truly understand what myself and Ian (as well as everyone involved with The USA Warriors organization) is trying to do…healing through hockey!”  Nichole “The Manager” Ramsdell is the New England Warriors Team Manager/Assistant Coach and Ian “Battleship” Ramsdel is one of the Team Captain/Co-founders of the New England Warriors since its inception in early 2014.

Congratulations to New England Warriors’ own Nichole Ramsdell and Ian Ramsdel!
